Growing up, everyone deserves to feel safe and loved. Yet, for children and young people who have lived through or witnessed torture, their youth is shadowed by fear and trauma. This Christmas, support young torture survivors with vital therapy so they can heal and reclaim a sense of joy.

No one should ever be tortured. Yet children and young people around the world are still subjected to unimaginable horrors simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The impact of such abuse is often more extreme for them, causing complex mental health issues which can profoundly damage their capacity to trust, build relationships and feel safe in the UK. Young survivors require specialist psychological support to recover from their experiences and the trauma of their past.

For 40 years, Freedom from Torture has provided specialist therapeutic care to torture survivors in the UK. Our clinicians work with survivors to rebuild their physical and mental health. Our doctors document evidence of torture. Our immigration and welfare advisors help survivors with their asylum cases and living conditions. This Christmas, your gift can get young survivors and their families the expert support they need to recover from the pain of their past and rebuild their lives in the UK.
