This winter you can give UK families living in poverty the essentials they need to not just survive, but thrive, with a Turn2us grant. Basics like heating their home, a table and chairs to eat a meal at, an oven to cook that meal, or a bed for a child to sleep in. Give the essentials this Christmas.

Over 14 million people in the UK live in poverty, including 4.3 million children. Nearly 1 in 4 people run out of money for essentials most months. Women, disabled people, and parents of young children are hardest hit. How can a child go to school if you don’t have money for their bus? How would you feel if you couldn't afford hot water to wash? For many families, financial insecurity isn’t just about not having money - it’s about the barriers that prevent them from moving forward.

Turn2us tackles poverty and supports people by giving cash grants through partner organisations; providing information through our website and trusted tools like our Benefits Calculator and Personal Independence Payment Helper; and campaigning for changes to systems and policies that keep people in poverty. In 2023–24, we gave £3.3m in grants to 2,277 people averaging £1,450 per person. Our Benefits Calculator was used 2.5 million times, and 1.6 million users found new benefits to apply for.
