Skye always loved to sing and dance. Then aged three, she lost her ability to walk, talk and laugh. Her family was told it would likely be their last Christmas together. Julia’s House provides care and comfort for families like Skye’s, helping them make the most of every precious childhood moment.

Nothing can prepare a family for hearing the devastating news their child has a life-limiting condition. Their child will have complex needs and require 24 hour care. It’s a life-changing moment. Parents are grieving; homes need adapting; work and careers have to be given up. Such enormous strains can leave families exhausted, isolated and struggling to cope. Without dedicated expert care, many will reach breaking point, consumed by the stresses of trying to keep their child safe and alive.
Julia’s House provides specialist care to the most seriously ill children in Dorset and Wiltshire, and support for their families. Our dedicated team of nurses and carers provide essential respite breaks at home or in our hospices, giving children the fun and friendship of childhood and exhausted parents the breathing space to rest and recharge. The whole family – parents, siblings and grandparents - are also regularly supported with events, therapies and counselling sessions.
