Women we live and work amongst are living in fear, denied the everyday freedoms we take for granted. On average, one in four women experience domestic abuse in their lifetime, and one woman is killed by an abusive partner or ex every five days. The abuse can take many forms including physical violence, emotional abuse, technological and financial control. Domestic abuse is insidious in nature and can have a long-lasting impact on survivors' physical and emotional wellbeing.
Refuge’s National Domestic Abuse Helpline is a lifeline for women experiencing domestic abuse. A woman could be planning to leave her home, she could recently have escaped, or she might still be living with her perpetrator – no matter what stage of her journey she is at, our expert team are there to listen and provide free, non-judgmental, confidential support 24/7, 365 days a year. We want every woman who contacts us to feel listened to, and to leave the call with a clear path forward.
