1 in 5 women experience mental health issues and younger women are at greater risk of self-harm. Women’s experiences of trauma, domestic abuse and sexual violence are directly linked to mental ill health – 90% of our clients have experienced trauma. Poverty and hardship also contributes to mental ill-health. Yet those on low incomes can only access short-term NHS CBT, which many clients find ineffective. RENEW is addressing the dual challenge of high demand and limited availability of support.

Renew steps in where the system fails. We will offer free, specialist therapy for women on low incomes—up to 26 sessions in our safe, women-only community centres. Our expert therapists support those facing trauma, in multiple languages. Unlike short NHS options, our approach enables healing at women’s own pace, along with developing resilience and coping mechanisms. Women will also be able to access our other services such as peer support groups, advice and guidance, and a welcoming community.
