Every year over 70 million families need palliative care worldwide. At present only about 14% of this need is being met. Over 80% of the need is in low or middle-income countries. Outside the UK, where modern hospice started, hospice and palliative care is not known or understood. Most of the public is frightened to think about their loved one needing palliative care and they don't understand that suffering can be relieved or prevented.
World Hospice & Palliative Care Day is the biggest opportunity to educate the public about the value of hospice & palliative care in every country. The day is recognized & supported by WHO and we provide all the materials and resources for our members to educate and inform the community and especially those needing palliative care that health related suffering can be relieved.
