Domestic Abuse is continuing to rise, with an average that 1 in 4 individuals experiencing some form of abuse within their lifetime. It is costing the UK around about, 85 billion pounds a year, with 2.3 million people ages 16 and over experiencing some form of abuse. In the year to March 2024, there were 108 domestic homicides, of which three- quarters were women. We are also aware that domestic abuse is hugely under reported, so these figures are just the surface of what is happening.
Our aims are prevention, education and early intervention. It’s so important that women and girls are provided with the information they need to make informed decisions about their relationships. We want to provide them with the tools and knowledge whether this is for a first-time relationship or escaping a long-term marriage. We believe that every person deserves the choice to live with dignity and no dependence, however, to do this, we need to break the cycle of abuse.
