We run the only shelter for girls escaping violence in Kawempe, Kampala. In the last year, we supported 1,346 girls—but now we’re having to turn girls away. Your support will fund beds, a wheelchair for injured or disabled girls, and rising costs—so no girl is left without safety.

Violence against girls in Kawempe is rampant. Even in schools—places that should be safe—24% of girls in primary and 20% in secondary school experience sexual violence. In areas like Kimombasa Bwaise—high in sex work and trafficking—over half of all girls are affected. Due to massive aid cuts, all other shelters have closed. But with increasing demand, rising costs and too few beds, we’re now being forced to turn girls away.

At our Safe Haven, girls- some as young as 6 - arrive traumatised, scared, and often without anyone to trust. We offer: safety, care and people who believe them. In a broken system with few protections, we build trusted referral pathways - linking girls to age-appropriate care, counselling, healthcare and justice. Your support will help us add beds, a wheelchair, and cover rising costs—so no girl is turned away when she needs us most.
