Our local young people face barriers to healthy outdoor activities due to poverty and trauma. Our outdoor youth clubs offer positive experiences, skill building, confidence, and well-being. Through Adventurous Learning and strong mentoring relationships, we offer life-changing outdoor experiences.

Merkinch & South Kessock has very few youth clubs, leaving young people with limited activities. Many families struggle financially, making it hard to access positive, healthy experiences. Post-lockdown, children face difficulties with social relationships. Despite being surrounded by Scotland’s renowned landscapes, the area is among the most deprived, with one postcode ranking 8th worst in the country. Growing up in these circumstances leads to all-too-obvious challenges for young people.

Our clubs run every week & weekend for 13-18-year-olds from Merkinch & South Kessock, prioritizing those from low-income households or with barriers like being young carers. After 8 weeks, they take an overnight trip using our donated minibus. Working with local schools, we provide long-term mentoring, building skills from basic hillwalking to lead climbing. With no more than 12 participants per session, the club fosters confidence, independence, and personal growth in the outdoors.
