Black people in the UK face poorer health outcomes, partly due to systemic disparities and mistrust in healthcare. The BCDD aims to bridge this gap by building trust, increasing health literacy, and empowering the community through targeted health promotion, ultimately improving healthcare access.

By enhancing health literacy and empowering the Black community to advocate for their well-being, we aim to reduce the widely reported health inequalities in the UK. Addressing historical mistrust in healthcare, we also strive to increase Black representation in research, ensuring our health remains a priority in medical advancements and innovation.

Over the past three years, BCDD has hosted regular free webinars and seminars in collaboration with churches, sororities, and community groups to educate on key health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, men and women's health as well as mental health. As members of these communities, we create safe spaces for dialogue, build trust, and work towards improving healthcare outcomes.
