Millions of women, girls and people who menstruate suffer with period pain and heavy bleeding that disrupts their lives. Instead of getting the treatment and support they desperately need, they’re often dismissed and told it’s “Just a period”

In our survey, women affected by heavy & painful periods said it took an average of 22 months from symptoms starting to seeking help. When they do seek help though, they’re not taken seriously. Nearly two-thirds with period symptoms said they’d sought help from a healthcare professional, but most weren’t given treatment, a diagnosis, or follow ups. Ignoring heavy bleeding & pain seriously impacts women & girls’ wellbeing and untreated conditions such as endometriosis can lead to worse outcomes.
In partnership with women, GPs, gynaecologists and pharmacists, we've developed a period symptom checker. In less than five minutes women can find out if their period symptoms are something they should contact their healthcare professional about. They can receive a letter with their symptoms to give to their GP, to start the conversation. All women and girls should be educated and empowered about periods so they can be in control of their menstrual health – from their first period to their last.
