In remote rural areas women and girls face the worst impacts of climate change and developmental gaps. As cities advance rural women confront shrinking educational and economic prospects. BCI provides educational opportunities for rural women with little access to knowledge or resources. By teaching them solar engineering, regenerative agriculture, beekeeping and sewing skills, we provide capacity-building with earning potential that brings sustainable and equitable solutions across Africa.
We place women at the heart of bringing light to their communities. Our three Regional Training Centres in Africa are a place of discovery and transformation for rural women - all mothers and grandmothers - living on less than $1.20 a day who have never had access to formal education. Our 'ENRICH' programme creates confidence. Each woman solar engineer will electrify at least 50 homes. They become inspirational role models and pass on their skills to other women and girls in their communities.
