Connecting with nature is essential for mental health and to inspire people to care about the local and global environment, but urban green space in England declined from 63% to 56% between 2001-2016. Islington has the second highest population density with second least access to green space of any UK local authority. This ‘nature poverty’ disproportionately affects those already experiencing social and economic disadvantage. TGC was founded in 2008 to address this inequity in our community.

For 15 years we've brought a wonderful variety of nature connection experiences to 50,000+ people in our community, mainly children 0-11 facing high levels of deprivation. We aim to joyfully connect urban people with their local green spaces so they are inspired to use them, value and take care of them, including community gardening. We also deliver fabulous Key Stage 2 class residential trips in the Kent and Sussex countryside and are leading climate change education in Islington.
