AIMS works for a future where everyone feels informed, heard and respected throughout their maternity experience. We provide individual support through our free helpline, free evidence-based information, and books. We also campaign at national level for much-needed service improvements.

“brutal” “barbaric” “torture” “like rape” “dehumanising” This is how women have described their maternity care in the UK. Around 1 in 3 new mums feel traumatised by their experiences. That’s 200,000 families disrupted by birth trauma. Birth outcomes are worse for Black, Asian and socioeconomically-deprived women. To navigate maternity care people need evidence-based information and to know their human rights. Maternity services need radical change to become safe, personalised and family friend
We will provide free access to research based information, support and tools for self-advocacy to help all women make decisions about maternity care and access the care they want. We will develop information in different formats and languages to better support disadvantaged groups. We will engage with maternity staff and birth workers to improve their practice. We will continue to campaign for improvements and represent the voices of women and families in the national maternity services debate
