We support some of the most vulnerable young mothers, typically aged up to 25, who are out of education, living in poverty and unable to earn a fair income. Many are at risk of homelessness, have no support network and survive hand to mouth. Despite many of their pregnancies being the result of rape or coercion, the young women are often castigated by their communities, thrown out of home and forced out of school. This can leave them trapped in cycles of poverty and marginalisation.

Working in partnership with trusted local organisations in Bo district, this year we will support approximately 230 young mothers through a holistic and tailored package of support. This includes: Practical assistance to return to school or learn a trade; One-on-one weekly mentoring to set goals and grow in confidence; Weekly group life skills sessions to gain new skills; Family Mediation and Reunification Childcare support; Wider Complementary interventions including community engagement
