There is an estimated 30% shortfall in the amount of refuge accommodation available to meet the needs of those fleeing domestic abuse and less than 1% of available beds are suitable for wheelchair users. As a charity we lost 25% of our bedspaces last year due to rent rises. 1 in 4 of those we are unable to help reported a disability, health issue or size/make up of family we could not accommodate. Put simply we need more inclusive refuge accommodation to keep families safe.

We are now able to purchase additional refuge accommodation for those fleeing domestic abuse, so we can help more people, particularly those who may currently be excluded from help, including: those with mobility issues; older male children; higher levels of mental health need or larger families. We aim to increase our available bed space by approximately 15% - helping an additional 10 -20 families per year in desperate need of safety and support. We need help to fit out our new accommodation.
