Over 25% of the Devon population is aged 65+, compared with under 20% of the England population. Vulnerable people living in rural parts of Devon struggle to cope with declining health, social isolation and loneliness, poor mental health, and access to vital healthcare and support services. Rising living costs compound these difficulties, with vulnerable people now struggling to afford basics such as food and heating, and more and more young families struggling to make ends meet.
Helping 400+ of the most vulnerable with: •Support services from our hub. From nail cutting to winter warm room, seated exercise classes to social groups e.g. Men’s Brunch Club, free kids meals. •Assisted transport, incl. wheelchair users, to and from vital healthcare appointments across Devon, and support services from our hub. •Cost-of-living services. •Home help for independent living. •Community amenities: community café, post office, library and laundry from our hub (weekly footfall 2,800).
