Our Baby Bank supports families that are facing the greatest challenges from poverty by providing bespoke Baby Packs of preloved baby equipment, toys and clothes. We need to be able to respond to the huge rise in referrals from healthcare professionals working in areas of deprivation.

In Edinburgh c.22% of all children live in relative poverty after housing costs. In particular in the NE locality it is an estimated overall rate of 27% (Edinburgh Poverty Commission). 4 out of 5 families with a baby reported that the cost of living crisis was having a negative impact on their mental health (Joseph Rowntree). Our Baby Bank has experienced a 100% increase in referrals over the last two years - average has increased from 28 to 56 referrals pcm, and we need to meet this demand.

The Baby Bank supplies practical help - items of equipment can be as large as prams or cots and as small as breast pumps or baby baths. This campaign will fund the Baby Bank to ensure it can meet this huge increase in demand, as we know we can get enough items donated, and more volunteers. We need to cover support costs to ensure we have the staff support and actual space to make it happen.
