Situation
Hyperemesis gravidarum is not just “really bad morning sickness”—it is a debilitating pregnancy condition that profoundly impacts physical and mental health. Despite commitments in the Women’s Health Strategy and the expansion of women’s health hubs, HG sufferers remain excluded from the services they desperately need. Insufficient services, a lack of acknowledgement of HG as trauma, inequitable access and systemic dismissal are all barriers to the care and treatment HG sufferers deserve.
Solution
A Month to Change Minds will directly support one of our 2025 strategic priorities: Championing mental health campaigning for dedicated HG mental health pathways to address the long-term impact of this condition. Whilst we advocate for more training, standardised care, the expansion of women’s health hubs and the creation of an APPG for HG, we aim to expand and fund our counselling and peer support services for sufferers of Hyperemesis Gravidarum in the UK.
