There are 4.3 million children growing up in poverty in the UK, an increase of 100,000 from 2021-22. That is 9 in a classroom of 30 and 30% of all children. And on average, disabled households need an additional £975 a month to have the same standard of living as non-disabled households, rising to £1,122 per month when adjusted for inflation.

Our place-based approach means we work with partners (schools and community organisations and coaches/teachers/mentors) to support children who have a range of additional needs. We target youngsters who are most in need - those who have profound disabilities and are experiencing poverty. Our sport and education programmes are therefore embedded into communities so children can achieve a certain set of outcomes and thrive in the future.
