We believe in the transformative power of music to change children’s lives. But music education is fast becoming a privilege, not a right. We are determined to change this by widening access to high-quality music education, enabling more young people to achieve to their greatest potential.

There is a proven link between music-making and better social and academic outcomes for children, especially in early years. However, access to music education in the UK is increasingly unequal. A 2022 ISM report found that the average yearly budget for music in state schools was less than a fifth of those in independent schools. Our aim is to level the playing field and allow all children – no matter their background - to experience the many benefits music brings.
Through our award-winning Flagship Schools Programme, we bring music into the lives of over 1,000 state primary school children in under-served and diverse London communities. From ages 4-11, pupils engage in regular musicianship and instrumental learning in groups, delivered by skilled teachers. We also enrich their time in school with creative opportunities, regular chances to perform, and visits from inspiring artists. We enable each child to flourish and imagine greater possibilities.
