Situation
Despite record job vacancies in the UK, many young people lack the skills and confidence to take hold of these opportunities. Unemployment is a proven contributor to poor mental health, meaning that many young people find themselves trapped in a vicious cycle, as unemployment causes low self-esteem which in turn prevents them from finding work. Add to this the challenge of having grown up in care or having a criminal record and there is the danger that these young people will be left behind.
Solution
We will upskill and support young people facing barriers to work, such as educational failure or struggles with mental health, so that they can take hold of available job opportunities, changing the long-term trajectory of their future. Through powerful group coaching and 1-1 sessions which encourage long-term mindset shifts, interview practice and access to jobs through our employer networks, they will be equipped with the skills to get into work and succeed.
