Situation
Three quarters of Discovery Museum’s visitors are families, many with children aged under 5. Research shows that access to play and exploration has a positive impact on the development of young children’s memories, problem-solving, communication and motor skills. We believe there’s a need for a free, dedicated space in the museum for very young children to learn and play.
Solution
We are close to finishing our new play space, Tiny Tyneside, designed specifically to support learning and skills development of under 5s. We need your help to raise the final £10,000 to support the costs of the project. The new space will be themed around Discovery Museum’s collections which reflect the local area, such as engineering, inventions, transport, ships, and bridges. It will also incorporate fun activities such as puzzles, code breaking, and problem solving and making.
