Situation
Refugee and asylum seeking children are disproportionately affected by poverty which can negatively impact their health, safety and confidence. Hostile immigration policies mean that families are prohibited from working with little to no income and insecure housing. Parents cannot afford healthy food and skipping meals impacts physical and mental health and educational attainment. Children rarely have green space at home and have financial barriers to weekend activities and sports clubs.
Solution
Our Food Bank and Allotment of Refuge will improve childrens’ health and wellbeing through regular healthy food provision and fun physical activities in a safe green space. Our casework and advocacy will ensure families can access safe housing and regular income so parents can sustainably meet their children’s needs. Our Rainbow Club Saturday school will improve confidence, belonging and educational attainment through specialised classes, creative activities, sports, trips and our Youth Council.
