EMERGE is our free-to-access programme for children living in poverty in London, aged 14-18 years, with low aspirations, who face multiple barriers to achieving sustainable employment. EMERGE compromises practical training and experience, networking opportunities, financial study and mentoring.

    Poverty: WHB is situated by the poorest estates in London (lowest 20-30% child and multiple deprivation indexes). Low Aspiration: Children in poverty living in families with limited career paths, lack the ability to dream beyond their immediate circumstances. Impaired Resilience: Disadvantaged young people are 20% less likely to earn from music than those from higher income backgrounds. 92% of creative industries jobs are done by people from ADVANTAGED socio-groups.

    EMERGE free training for 30 children living in poverty, across 12 months: 1.Performer strand: instrumental / voice teaching, professional recording and concerts at WHB (not funded by this campaign) 2.Tech strand: Audio and visual teaching + professional work experience on WHB’s recording sessions and concert programme. 3.Both strands: Finance Essentials course (manage and make money as a self-employed person), mentoring + networking with industry professionals to inspire the children.
