Children and young people who have experienced the death of someone close are more likely to develop long lasting-issues that threaten their futures. Research shows that without early intervention and timely support, many suffer long-lasting negative impacts of bereavement right through into adulthood. Those from low-income backgrounds are at greater risk of negative impacts including severe depression, underperformance at school leading to unemployment, and in some cases, early death.

Grief Encounter creates safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental spaces for children and young people to explore and express their grief. Whether that be through talking, creating and making or specialist trauma support, our services are tailored to the specific needs of that child. Grief is unique, so our services work uniquely with that individual to ensure hope and healing. We need funding to ensure we reach as many of the most vulnerable children we can, building a more resilient generation.
