Every year over 200 young people, age 6 to 16, come to Grove Adventure Playground to play on our structures, meet their friends, plan activities and go on trips. Due to funding cuts we need to find £35,000. These cuts mean no more after-school activities and our 13+ group no longer meets on Mondays.

Situation
We want to reinstate our after-school programme and give our 13+ group a safe home on a Monday after school and put our playground on a sound financial footing to support the children and young people who have come to rely on the playground. Additionally, we see our children and young people struggling with their mental and emotional wellbeing. This manifests itself in behavioural issues or social withdrawal. This leaves them vulnerable to grooming by gangs or other negative influences.
Solution
Since we rescued and reopened the playground in 2018, the playground has offered safe, free, supervised play and organised activities for over 400 local 6–16-year-olds. We employ a diverse, experienced and qualified staff team, which now includes some of our young people who have progressed to paid roles. The team are key to engaging and supporting children and young people who face a range of issues empowering them to co-produce activities which build skills and confidence and broaden horizons.
