School-Home Support’s mission is to get children in school, ready to learn, whatever the cost. For 40 years we have been helping children access the full scope of their education, breaking down barriers both in and out of the classroom to ensure the children we support realise their full potential.

Situation
Nearly 1 in 5, or 1.6 million, children in England are missing 10% or more of their education, the equivalent of missing at least 4 weeks of school annually. This absence rate is over 4 times higher than the pre-Covid-19 pandemic, which averaged 4.65% over the 6 years leading up to the pandemic. With attendance being correlated with academic attainment, too many children are not only missing out on their education, but future life chances too.
Solution
The barriers that prevent children from accessing the full scope of their education often extend beyond the classroom. Inadequate housing, poverty, and poor physical and mental health all pose challenges to a child’s ability to access their education. To combat the variety of these challenges, we offer bespoke, whole family support through our practitioner service, addressing the root causes of a child’s non-attendance to ensure enduring, positive changes to the lives of those we support.
