Alongside the decline of the environmental health of our rivers (and climate and nature crises), is a growing disconnect between the public and nature, and the attributed health benefits that it brings. Fewer and fewer people are connecting with our outdoors, this is especially well-documented in the younger generations, to such an extent that the NHS is now prescribing fresh air and nature for some treatments.

Our outreach programme seeks to engage those already active and those unactive in environmentalism and nature, increasing the numbers visiting and engaging with our rivers. The Trust will benefit from a two way conversation with the public on what they are seeing (both positive and negative), and in return the public will benefit from nature and the opportunity for further learning and engaging with the community.
