Situation
From our work on the Nature's Ambassadors project we know that children and young people are passionate about protecting the environment. We also know that there are often significant gaps in their knowledge and understanding of conservation issues. From our work delivering Know Your Neighbourhood in Wolverhampton we also know that some people feel entirely disconnected from their local community and suffer terribly from feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Solution
We would like to deliver a coordinated program of activities which help address the gaps in community knowledge around conservation issues, improve the sense of community belonging and address the feeling of isolation experienced by those most disconnected from their local community. The program will consist of informal education sessions for children and young people on environmental issues and sustainable craft activities designed to bring members of the community together.
