Destructive developments like those in Barbuda are happening across the Caribbean and the same companies who have targeted Barbuda haven’t stopped there, projects they operate in Scotland, Portugal and in the U.S. have also been heavily criticised for destroying wetlands and waterways, cutting off local beach access and rights of way for local people.

GLAN is supporting the important work of the Stronger Caribbean Together Network by building effective legal strategies to reinforce community efforts to protect the environment and human rights in the region. We are building on a 2024 Court win regarding Islanders' right to challenge these developments and are working with brave local land activists to take strategic legal cases to ensure their Island's ecosystem and their way of life are respected.
