Scotland's Rainforest faces the combined threats of invasive non-native species, over-grazing, and climate change. We need to clear Rhododendron ponticum and other species which are rapidly crowding out our native trees and lower plants, and the multitude of species which rely on them. We need to control the numbers of deer and sheep, and give our woodlands space to breathe and grow.

ACT's Rainforest Squad is a skills and training enterprise, offering traineeships covering all aspects of native woodland management. Alongside the Squad, we will offer volunteer opportunities, and community workshops. We try to engage our communities right from the start! Our Outdoor Nursery for 3-5 year olds and Outdoor STEM sessions regularly take expeditions to our Rainforest Hub, where are native tree nursery, volunteer base and Rainforest Squad are at work.
