Deforestation and environmental destruction of vital rainforests like the Amazon and Niger Delta are accelerating climate change, threatening biodiversity, and displacing communities. Powerful industries and enablers are often complicit in these crimes but avoid scrutiny. By exposing their climate crimes we aim to raise awareness, build pressure ahead of COP30, and empower decision makers to drive change.
The Bureau has been sparking change since 2010 as an impact-first nonprofit newsroom. Our environment team exposes climate crimes like deforestation tied to supply chains, leading to suppliers being dropped and stronger regulations. Ahead of COP30 we’ll target the biggest polluters, working alongside communities to uncover the truth, amplify their voices, and provide changemakers with evidence to disrupt harmful practices and demand accountability.
