We restore vitally important habitats in the beautiful Dyfi catchment, Mid Wales, by managing Bwlch Corog’s heath, peatland and rare ancient Celtic rainforest. Set in this unique wild landscape, we also run programmes that connect people with nature and enhance their wellbeing.

Situation
Bwlch Corog’s land has become badly degraded: native woodlands are overwhelmed by bracken, peatlands vital for carbon storage are harmed by historic draining and loss of biodiversity, and a recently discovered water vole population clings to dwindling habitats. Meanwhile, local people are increasingly disconnected from nature, leading to a loss of wellbeing benefits and a diminishing understanding of how to care for the environment, threatening both nature and future generations
Solution
We will restore Bwlch Corog’s degraded land and protect the water vole population through improving habitat, tree planting, bracken control, and peatland restoration. Our community programmes will engage young people from all backgrounds, fostering new skills, exploration, and environmental stewardship. By involving local people in hands-on conservation, we will strengthen their connection to nature and ensure sustainable, long-term impact.
