This project is open to all. It provides local spaces and expert leaders so everyone can grow fruit & vegetables together. It creates a sense of community, and provides support for those without gardens (often living in our most deprived neighbourhoods) and/or those needing access to nutritious food

Situation
In our area's town centres and our more deprived neighbourhoods, around a third of residents don't have a garden. This, coupled with the ongoing cost of living crisis, increased rates of mental and physical health problems, and lack of family and community cohesion, means that people have to find other green space in which they can spend time, meet friends, exercise, relax and/or be amongst nature and wildlife.
Solution
We have been making nature-focussed improvements to more than 20 of our local community parks (previously managed by the local Council) and have now created raised beds in many of them. During 2025-26, we are inviting local residents (including schools, community groups, etc) to join us and learn how to grow, harvest and cook a wide variety of organic fruit and vegetables. People will also enjoy the park setting, get active, and make connections with others from their neighbourhood.
