Since 1995, Camcycle has been working with people in Cambridgeshire on schemes that improve walking and cycling and result in greener, healthier places. In our 30th birthday year, help us build on our work supporting communities to envision and deliver the people-friendly streets of the future.

A lack of safe infrastructure is a barrier to sustainable travel in Cambridgeshire, and therefore a major hurdle to reducing transport emissions. Research shows that if 10% of the UK population were to replace one car trip each day with a journey by cycle, overall transport emissions would decrease by about 10%. Communities have great ideas for improvements but may lack the technical knowledge and campaigning expertise to bring them to reality.
Through our Zero Carbon Streets project, Camcycle has ignited community action. Results have included safe new routes, more advocacy for better infrastructure, and growing resident involvement in transport decisions. We want to continue to empower diverse groups across our region to collectively champion greener, healthier streets and ensure that change is delivered in their communities. This will give more people the choice to walk, wheel and cycle for everyday journeys.
