We work closely with a network of 86 groups across the UK, who are united by their passion for bats, performing many essential activities in their local area. Bat groups, and the volunteers who run them, are at the heart of bat conservation. Help us continue to support their amazing and vital work.

Bats and their roosts are legally protected to help them to recover from large historical declines. However, there is still a widespread lack of awareness about the value and diversity of bats. Bat groups work within their local communities not only to raise awareness, through bat walks and other engagement events, but also by carrying out essential conservation work, like data collection, research and bat rehabilitation.

Britain is one of the world’s most nature-depleted countries but, over the last few years, a combination of legislation and education has helped the partial recovery of a number of bat species. Bat groups and the volunteers who run them are at the heart of this rare conservation success story. While we still have a long way to go, we know that by working with bat groups and continuing to support their conservation efforts, we can bring more of our 18 bat species onto the road to recovery.
