Threatened by invasive species, unsustainable fishing practices, plastic and chemical pollution, and the devastating impacts of climate change, Scotland’s seabird populations are plummeting. Iconic species like puffins and kittiwakes continue to face worrying, global decline. The 2023 Bass Rock Gannet Count highlighted a concerning 31% decrease due to Avian Flu. Protecting seabirds and their habitats is vital in ensuring their survival.

Better protect and understand marine species and habitats, inspiring people to act for nature by delivering: - Our long-standing SOS Puffin project, removing invasive tree mallow from local islands to safeguard puffin populations; - Essential monitoring and research, enhancing our understanding of the marine environment; - Work with partners to keep the East Lothian coastline clean; - Citizen science projects to raise awareness of key challenges and empower people to take action for nature
