As Moor Trees celebrates 25 years of nature recovery on Dartmoor, we want to expand our tree nurseries and invest in vital infrastructure to grow 25,000 more native broadleaved trees each year. This will enable us to create more new woodlands, enhancing Dartmoor's ecosystem for generations to come.

Moor Trees exists to grow and plant native broadleaved trees on Dartmoor in response to the climate and nature crises. The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world and we have significantly less tree cover than much of Europe. Trees have a valuable role to play both in terms of carbon capture and creating habitats for wildlife. Time is not on our side, and we must accelerate our efforts to achieve our ambitious goal: planting a third of Dartmoor by 2050.

We want to invest in our tree-growing infrastructure at our community tree nurseries, (including rodent proof tree cages, specialist compost and root trainers) enabling us to accommodate an additional 25,000 trees annually. These trees will become the equivalent of 26 football pitches of new woodland each year. This will increase our tree nursery stock to 120,000 trees, ensuring a steady supply of healthy trees for our future tree planting projects across Dartmoor.
