We reuse furniture from the interiors industry that would otherwise go to landfill to create healing homes for domestic abuse survivors who are placed into empty social housing, creating powerful social impact while supporting a circular economy.

Situation
Twenty-two million pieces of furniture - or 670,000 tonnes - end up in landfill every year. Many of these items are in new or as new condition. Meanwhile, furniture poverty is a devastating issue for more than 14 million people in the UK. Less than 2% of social housing comes furnished, not even with flooring or curtains. For women escaping domestic abuse, being placed into an empty home can be detrimental to rebuilding their lives.
Solution
We work with leading brands, retailers and the public to save furniture from landfill and use it to create healing homes for survivors of domestic abuse that have been placed into empty social housing, giving each piece a new lease of life while creating powerful social impact. Any items that we don’t use in homes we sell to raise funds for our work, supporting a circular economy meaning no item donated to us goes to waste.
