Over 97% of the UK’s species-rich grassland has been lost in recent decades, and this important habitat now accounts for less than 1% of the landscape. We need your help reversing this trend in Herefordshire, with funding for an outreach program to complement our ongoing meadow conservation work.

Situation
Species-rich grassland is a dwindling habitat that has all but vanished from the British Isles. We are working to reverse this trend by conserving, restoring and creating wildflower meadows in Herefordshire, and we need your help to ensure our long-term success. An active and supportive network of meadow owners, enthusiasts, farmers, land managers and citizen scientists is vital so that knowledge and experience can be shared, best-practice guidance developed, and progress monitored.
Solution
We will provide a program of free events, discussion groups and training sessions, all aimed at improving knowledge and understanding of species-rich grassland. Through regular meetings of landowners, farmers, specialists and enthusiasts, we will provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge, experience, and up-to-date research and guidance. We will also develop a network of volunteer citizen scientists to help map, survey, and monitor species-rich grassland in Herefordshire.
