CAG motivates a network of groups enacting local-led change, which benefits people and the environment. For this project, we want to enable happier, healthier, more resilient communities as part of Great Big Green Week in June connecting folks to each other and the ecosystem around them.

Situation
The impacts of climate change including climate anxiety are more and more apparent. The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world, with more than 40% of native wildlife species in decline. At the same time, we know many residents are experiencing loneliness and social isolation contributing to poor mental and physical well-being in some communities in Oxfordshire. There are many opportunities to address these challenges creating resilient communities through local connections.
Solution
Great Big Green Week is a national celebration of community action to tackle climate change led by The Climate Coalition. Over the last 4 years, it has become a significant moment for the CAG network. Last year, we supported more than 30 groups (a 50% increase from the previous year thanks to Big Give support) to engage residents in activities such as repair cafes, tree plantings, storytime sessions, vegetarian cooking demonstrations and more. We'd like to increase that number still this year.
