We need your help to protect the River Thame for wildlife and people. By supporting us, you will help iconic species like brown trout, water vole, and curlew. We will restore habitats, tackle river health, and empower communities across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire to take action for nature.

Situation
The River Thame and its wildlife are cherished and there is indeed much to value. However, it is a shadow of what it could, and should, be. Modern pressures from wastewater, land use, housing, and transport have incrementally degraded the river, masking the scale of loss. Once-abundant species like brown trout and curlew are only found in small numbers and the beloved water vole hasn’t been recorded in decades.
Solution
We will restore the River Thame and its floodplain by addressing the pressures harming its ecosystem and the species it supports. We will “re-wiggle” straightened channels, restore in-stream habitat, reconnect the river to its floodplain, create wetlands, and remove barriers to fish passage. By involving volunteers, supporters, farmers, and land managers in our work, we will ensure the challenges and outcomes are “owned” by all – amplifying the benefits of our work.
