The planet faces urgent environmental challenges, and it is crucial that people value wild spaces and understand Earth's biodiversity. Without this connection, ecosystems may not be saved. Many lack access to these areas or awareness of their existence, diminishing their motivation to conserve or study them. Additionally, acquiring the necessary skills to protect these habitats is difficult. Skills such as species identification or habitat assessment are challenging to master.
Technology now allows us to create immersive educational experiences that reach people who face barriers to visiting wild areas. While virtual experiences can't replace real ones, they can inspire people to get outdoors and explore, as documentaries have previously done. Using 360-degree cameras and interactive software, we'll offer personalised learning guided by expert ecologists. Our successful summer school has changed lives. We aim to share this impactful experience with a broader audience.
