The Cardinal Hume Centre is built on the belief that each person matters. We listen and nurture potential to support children and families facing homelessness and poverty. We work to break the cycle of hardship and focus on long-term, preventative measures to stop homelessness now and in the future.

The UK faces a housing emergency. Homeless families are increasing, while emergency accommodation is rapidly declining. Over 3,800 children in Westminster are now homeless. In the past five years, temporary accommodation has been linked to 74 child deaths, 58 of whom were under the age of one. Experiencing homelessness as a child has lasting traumatic effects, impacting children’s education, mental and physical health, and remains the strongest predictor of adult homelessness and poverty.
We provide a range of services with a trauma-informed, whole-family approach, tailoring our support to meet each client's unique needs. We offer immigration, benefits and housing advice and representation, employment and learning services, and provide a full schedule of activities for children in our Family Centre. Our housing team helps families with children find safe and secure homes, advocating for them, solving disrepair issues and obtaining accommodation to meet housing needs.
