Each day we hear from expectant parents, increasingly stressed because they are unable to afford all the items their baby will need. Midwives ring us, unable to discharge mothers from maternity wards because they have nothing at home for the baby. The additional cost of items for a newborn can be crippling on top of the already high cost of food, rent and bills. Together, we can help take some of this unthinkable stress away by gifting a first bed to fresh nappies, sleepsuits to soft toys.
Solution
A newborn bundle includes all the essentials: full set of pre-loved seasonal clothing, a buggy/ sling, feeding equipment, nappies, toys and a safe place to sleep. Families can choose to come to one of our baby banks in person or receive a home delivery. We refer parents to a network of other local services, and families can continue to be referred to us every three months if needed. We see the immediate relief parents feel knowing they have support while adjusting to life with a new baby.
