Living Streets is the UK charity for everyday walking. We campaign for healthy streets and neighbourhoods free from traffic and air pollution that can connect people to local nature spots. Our 2025/26 vision is to create greener spaces for all by campaigning with those most affected by poor streets.

Our neighbourhoods are designed for cars, not people. Our streets are congested and are often not enjoyable or safe places for people who are walking and wheeling. - Barriers to walking include unmaintained pavements, poor crossings, pavement parking and congestion - Air pollution causes ~29,000 premature deaths per year - 38% of fatalities and 25% of serious road injuries in England are pedestrians – people from ethnic minority groups and deprived areas are over 3 x likelier to be casualties

    - Advocate for walking and for pedestrian safety by working with Local Groups to show the impact of air pollution in urban areas through natural indicators in partnership with organisations e.g. Sheffield Environment Movement. - Call for accessible public green spaces to centre the needs of older people, children and disabled people - Help members/supporters to advocate in their local area; wider pavements, better crossings, and traffic calming measures for more walkable, vibrant communities
