The giant pangolin is an endangered (IUCN Red List Status) species and their population size in Uganda is declining rapidly. Facing devastating threats including habitat destruction, land conversion and illegal poaching - we must act now to save them from extinction. We currently know very little about the giant pangolin and this makes it difficult to effectively reduce threats and halt population decline. We urgently need to learn more about this elusive species to ensure their survival.

Working with our long-term partners in Uganda, we will begin collecting data on giant pangolin population size, movements, lifestyles and behaviours. Data will be collected through innovative AI-powered cameras and knowledge gained will inform our East African Conservation Action Plan. We'll also recruit 3 new team members on the ground who'll engage local communities and build partnerships with regional academic institutions. All this will help protect giant pangolins and ensure their survival.
