Situation
Greener Kirkcaldy’s Training Garden is at Ravenscraig Walled Garden. We offer courses, training and volunteer opportunities in gardening and growing tasty and seasonal fruit and vegetables. Our space includes a polytunnel, raised beds, seating area and an indoor classroom. We also maintain a Community Orchard with over 100 fruit trees and a ‘wild area’ set aside for nature. Around 30 volunteers come to our sessions each month. And we run regular workshops and community events like Apple Day.
Solution
Volunteering at our Training Garden teaches valuable practical skills. Participants also gain confidence and make new friends which reduces social isolation. Donations will help us to maintain the garden as a place where people and nature can thrive. They will help us buy the essential materials like seeds and tools that are needed to run our regular sessions.
