Blue Elephant Theatre opens up access to the arts and creative experiences to improve well-being and support personal development. This is especially important in areas like ours where local communities are at higher risk of poor mental health and face barriers to accessing services.

Situation
Many of our participants experience intersectional challenges which impact well-being, hinder development and/or limit opportunities. These challenges include socio-economic deprivation, racial inequity, barriers to accessing services, lack of support networks, disabilities & neurodivergence. Many participants, especially young people, are referred to us as a safe space to overcome the impact of challenges they face, which include poor well-being, low self-esteem and emotional difficulties.
Solution
We run free projects & programmes which improve well-being & build confidence & social skills. They give creative control to participants, giving them outlets to express themselves, work with others & create work they take pride in. Our work is trauma-informed with facilitators supporting participants through a nurturing, creative & inclusive process. “He feels it’s ok to be himself here” Mother of Autistic Participant.Usually 90+% of participants/caregivers feel our workshops improve well-being
